Excursion to Austria's highest mountain pass

The start of the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is located just a few minutes' drive from the Gletscherblick Apartments in Obergurgl. Use your stay in the region to discover the unique high-alpine nature in the region around Obergurgl-Hochgurgl.

Along the road visitors will find a number of large monuments telling the history of this cross-border route that was used by smugglers centuries ago to transport contraband between Italy and Austria. The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is open from early June until mid-October from 7:00 until 20:00 (depending on the weather).

Experience the Mediterranean flair of Merano

The Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road is not only one of the most attractive roads in Austria but also the gateway to the region of South Tyrol over the border in Italy. One of the destinations easiest to reach from the serviced Gletscherblick Apartments is Merano, a charming medieval town.

Experience the fascinating fusion of mountains and Mediterranean flair in Italy's northernmost province as you stroll through the old town and enjoy the local cuisine under the shade of palm trees and cypresses.

Pure relaxation in the Ötztal Valley

The AQUA DOME in Längenfeld is the perfect place to spend a rainy day. Just a 30-minute drive from the Gletscherblick Apartments, this luxurious spa gives guests the chance to get away from it all and forget the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Unwind and admire the Ötztal Alps in a selection of pools with water temperatures of between 34° and 36° Celsius. Work up a sweat on the underwater gym machines before retiring to the chill-out zone and lying back on one of the special heated recliners.

Excursion to the highest mountain in Tyrol

The idyllic village of Vent lies at the foot of the Wildspitze, the highest mountain in Tyrol, and offers wonderful views of the peaks above and the valley below.

Those with strong nerves should definitely visit the hanging bridge near the Rofenhöfe, one of the region's most famous breeding centres for Haflinger horses. The 46-metre bridge spans the Rofnerschlucht canyon with the Rofner Ache stream roaring past 31 metres below. A great place for a unique holiday photo!
